Freije, Margaret COHOES
Mary Ann Freije COHOES – Mary Ann Freije, of Cohoes, entered into eternal rest
on November 24 2011 after a long illness. Born in Troy, New York on February 2,
1936, she was the daughter of Fred Freije and Mary Ferris Freije. Mary’s family moved
to Cohoes when she was a child where she remained a life-long resident of the city.
Mary was a graduate of Cohoes High School and worked at the family grocery business,
The Big Value Supermarkets in Cohoes and Waterford. Mary enjoyed traveling to
Florida and the Caribbean Islands with her family. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and
collectables. Mary provided unwavering care to her family members in need, particularly
her mother, sister Margaret and brothers Philip and Joseph. She was the beloved sister of
Fred Freije of Cohoes and the late George, Philip, Margaret, Charles, and Joseph Freije
and Theresa Freije Luke. Devoted aunt of William Luke and Ann Marie Luke Ballard of
Latham, Charles Luke of Lake George, Fred Freije of Troy, and Barbara Freije Preston of
Albany. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held
on November 29th at 10 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home, Cohoes, and at Holy Trinity
Church where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are
invited and may call at the funeral home on November 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions in Mary’s name
may be made to Holy Trinity Church, Reverend James Ebert, Pastor, 122 Vliet Blvd.,
Cohoes, New York 12047. The family would like to thank the staff at Diamond Hill
Nursing Home for the kind and professional care Mary received during her short stay
with them.
