Charles Freije COHOES - Charles J. Freije, 82, formerly of Cohoes, died August 5, 2004, at Sunset Point Nursing Center in Clearwater, Florida. Born in Troy Nov. 5, 1921, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Ferris Freije. He graduated from St. Mary's School in Troy. In 1937 he moved to Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School in 1941. During WWII he worked for American Locomotive in Schenectady. At the end of the war he returned to work for the family business, the Big Value Super Market, located on the corner of Main and Columbia streets in Cohoes. In 1978 he retired moving to Florida with his wife Dorothy Freije, who died two years ago. He enjoyed traveling around the world. He was the brother of Philip and Fred Freije, both of Cohoes, Joseph Freije of Waterford, Margaret and Mary Freije, both of Cohoes, and the late George Freije and Theresa (Terry) Freije Luke. Uncle of Charles Luke of Lake George, Billy Luke of Latham, Fred Freije of Troy, and Barbara Preston of Albany. Also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home, corner of Remsen and Columbia streets, Cohoes, and at 9 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. Those who wish may make donations in Mr. Freije's memory to the Alzheimers Assoc., 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany 12206-2083.
